Nestled in Northern Fairfield County, Candlewood Lake is an easy and adventurous summer day trip!
Spanning over 8 miles and bordered by five towns, the Lake offers so much for families looking to get out on the Lake and make memories this summer.
This month, we’ve partnered with Lakeside Watersports to bring you a list of places to check out when you’re visiting the Brookfield area, including What to Do, Where to Eat, & Where to Shop.
What to Do:
Lakeside Watersports – Adventure on the water is what Lakeside Watersports is all about. Book a session and your family will be on the water in no time. Lakeside provides a safe, affordable, and fun way for you and your children to tube, water ski, wakeboard, and more.
Kids’ Kingdom – If you need a break from the water, head over to Kids’ Kingdom (100 Pocono Road, Brookfield) to play. The park, located about 10 minutes from the Lake, features a large playground, soccer fields, softball fields, picnic tables, and an entrance to the Still River Greenway.
Still River Greenway – This 2-mile paved trail is perfect for pedestrians and cyclists. The trail is stroller friendly and includes a beautiful bridge overlooking the Still River.
Brookfield Town Park – Spend more time swimming, lounging on the beach, and taking advantage of the amenities the Brookfield Town Park offers. Non-residents are permitted to enjoy the park, but need to purchase guest passes at the Park & Recreation office during business hours.
Where to Eat:
Down the Hatch – You can’t visit Candlewood Lake without stopping for a bite at the only restaurant on the Lake. Come by boat, car or even sea plane and enjoy a meal outside on their large deck.
The Cafe – A favorite local spot to stop by breakfast or lunch on your way up to the Lake.
Bagelman – Grab bagels or sandwiches on your way to the lake. This local go-to has lots to offer for lunch on the go.
Ice Cream – Find out why people head to Newtown from all over by visiting Ferris Acres
Creamery. With an extensive variety of flavors, there is truly something for every ice cream lover! Our
favorites are Cookie Jar & The MJ Rell.
Where to Shop:
Traveling Chic Boutique & Lovely offer women’s fashion right at the 4 Corners in Brookfield.
Bridgewater Chocolates – A favorite local treat! Visit their store and shop their specialty chocolate items.
IDS Home/Design/Baby – Shop this curated boutique full of children’s items and home decor.
