Meet Tanya Tochner, mom and founder of ROCKS Jewelry, Gifts, Home & Design — and an accomplished Interior Designer and stager. With 2 locations in Chappaqua and Scarsdale Tanya shares her faves and more about motherhood!
Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?
Tanya: I am originally from the City but have lived in Chappaqua for almost 24 years.
Child(ren) and Age(s)?
Tanya: My children are grown ups:) 22 and 23
One thing people would be surprised to know about you….
Tanya: I’ve always been an avid drawer — freehand sketching has been second nature to me for as long as I can remember. What started as something therapeutic has become an important part of my creative process. I often use my drawing skills in my interior design work and in creating custom jewelry for clients.
Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
Tanya: I had the best Mother in Law, she taught me so much about family and tradition. I miss her everyday.
Favorite things to do with your child/children?
Tanya: When your kids get to the age of my children, just spending quality time together is the best.
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
Tanya: Chappaqua is a beautiful place with a great sense of community. I have the most loyal amazing customers. My store wouldn’t be what it is without them.

Tell us about your mom life and how do you balance it all?
Tanya: The struggle is real. When my kids were little, it was a constant challenge — dinners often happened in the car on the way to soccer practice, and somehow, life hasn’t slowed down even now that they’re adults. Coordinating time together usually happens without notice, but I’ve learned to embrace it.
Over the years, I’ve realized that you can’t be everything for everyone all the time — it’s simply exhausting. The best you can do is your best. For me, that means family always comes first, even if that sometimes means work happens after hours.

Tanya: We have a lot of fun events coming up. Starting with our resin cheese board making event Nov 17, our Shop for a Cause benefiting Chappaqua School Foundation on December 10, Canasta for Beginners (date TBD), and more to come.

Favorite date night spot – Polpo in Greenwich. Food is always delicious.
Favorite restaurant to go as a family – Fortina in Armonk. We are obsessed with the hot honey pizza.
Favorite place to go out with friends – Bia in Chappaqua. They have the best salad pizza. It’s also a beautiful space.
Favorite place to go to have fun as a family – We love to travel. Last trip was to Japan. It was everyone’s favorite trip yet.
