One of my favorite superfoods is Flaxseed. Your body absorbs it best when it is consumed as whole ground flaxseed meal. It is loaded with plant-based omega 3 fats that work to lower cholesterol and the inflammation in your body. The majority of carbohydrates that flaxseed contains comes from fiber, which helps to prevent constipation. Start with 1 Tbsp. and work up to 2 Tbsp. to make sure you can tolerate it. After you open it, don’t forget to keep it refrigerated!
4 Ways to Add Flaxseed to Your Food:
1. Mix into oatmeal or oat bran.
2. Stir into Greek or Icelandic yogurt.
3. Whisk into your eggs before you cook them.
4. Add them to your pancake batter!
